Upcoming updates will enforce offline-first policy
Upcoming Ampersand updates will have a strict offline-first policy, and they will block remote image loading on purpose.
What this means for you?
Starting with Ampersand versions after 0.1.9 (not included) if you have embedded images that come from the Internet in Markdown fields (journal posts, message boards, member descriptions and custom fields) you will see them disappear into thin air, unless you give consent to Ampersand’s use of Internet.
How to give consent?
There will be a toggle: “Options” > “Security” > “Allow remote content”
Our recommendation though
Please download all images and then import them as assets; this will keep them local to your device and Ampersand will not break anymore. This is a good reminder that is the Markdown syntax to embed assets as images - please refer to the Markdown Cheat Sheet for more information.
Which other things are affected by this policy?
Imports from PluralKit, Simply Plural and Tupperbox: if you didn’t consent to Internet usage, Ampersand will not import any member/system images/banners.
I am a tester, is this already affecting me?
If you are on Ampersand CI version 0.1.9+4 then yes, this is already affecting you.
